125 Hyflux staff members volunteered to Walk for Rice

In November 2013, Hyflux employees enthusiastically supported NTUC Fairprice’s Walk for Rice @ South East charity campaign for the second consecutive year, raising 10,665 bowls of rice for needy residents and families. For this campaign, Fairprice has pledged to donate a bowl of rice for every 100 metres covered on foot by volunteers.

A collective 1,065.6 kilometres were traversed by 125 staff members from Hyflux and our efforts have raised 10,665 bowls of rice in 2013 – breaking our record of 9,675 bowls set in 2012.

The seven-kilometer walk saw the staff journeyed from Hyflux Innovation Centre to end at Marina Barrage, passing through a number of Singapore’s favourite landmarks including the Kallang Riverside Park, The Float @ Marina Bay and The Helix Bridge.

Fairprice has been partnering with the South East Community Development Council (CDC) for the annual FairPrice Walk for Rice. This 2013 walk marked Fairprice’s fifth year in supporting this initiative to rally the community in supporting needy families. The beneficiaries of this campaign are financially-assisted families identified by grassroots organisations.
